Located in a beautiful Spanish-style property in Orange County, the kitchen had all the hallmarks of that iconic architecture: warm terracotta floors, arched doorways, and richly stained cabinetry with ornate detailing. While these elements had served their purpose over the years, the space felt dark, dated, and disconnected from the more modern aesthetic the homeowners were drawn to.
They envisioned a kitchen that still nodded to the home’s roots—but one that felt lighter, cleaner, and better suited for everyday living.
We kept what gave the house its character and replaced what made the kitchen feel heavy. The arched doorways and the exposed beams stayed. The dark, ornate cabinetry went, and a lighter palette took its place: white Shaker cabinetry, matte brass hardware and a white oak island.
Our design team worked closely with the homeowners to reimagine the kitchen as a transitional space—something that would balance timeless elegance with modern simplicity.
The final result is a kitchen that blends the best of both worlds. We honored the home’s original architecture with details like the arched walkways and exposed beams, but brought it into the present with a lighter palette and thoughtful upgrades.
Now, the kitchen is the heart of the home again—where style meets comfort, and every detail feels just right.
